President, Beta Gamma Sigma HKUST Chapter
Dean, School of Business and Management

Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) is an honor society that represents the qualities of high principles and superior achievement. We believe that by fostering a culture of excellence and developing closer links with prestigious associations, our School will set a stronger foundation for its future.

Each year we welcome a new group of elite students, faculty and business leaders to connect with this “Best in Business” BGS network. This network provides a platform for our students and faculty to interact and engage with industry professionals and the business community.

My warmest congratulations to all newly inducted members, and our new honoree member, Dato’ Seri CHEAH Cheng Hye. Dato’ Seri CHEAH is the Chairman and Co-Chief Investment Officer of Value Partners Group. He led the Group to a successful listing on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2007. Now that Value Partners is one of the largest asset-management companies in Asia, Dato’ Seri CHEAH’s success has been an inspiring story.

Since 2011, Dato’ Seri CHEAH has been a member of our School Advisory Council, providing valuable guidance to our developments. With a generous donation from the Value Partners Group, our School launched the Value Partners Center for Investing in 2011, with the aims of promoting and supporting a wide range of activities in relation to investment research and training. More recently, the Group has introduced the Value Partners Young Fellowship Program to provide internships for our students and help them gain real-world experience in one of the leading asset management companies in the region.

In addition to providing financial support, the Value Partners Group encourages its employees to participate in community services and contribute to nurturing the new generation of financial investment talent for Hong Kong and the region. Dato’ Seri CHEAH makes our society benefit tremendously from the proven experiences and knowledge of Value Partners. His passion represents our shared vision in contributing to Hong Kong as an international financial center.

I hope all of you will be inspired by Dato’ Seri CHEAH to create a future in which everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed. While you are connected to this network of outstanding students and respected leaders, who have demonstrated a firm commitment to excellence, I look forward to your active participation in activities organized by BGS. I do believe you will find the BGS network and its resources rewarding for your future endeavors.
